What a PDRN Mask Actually Is: Ingredients, Benefits & How to Use
PDRN is salmon DNA purified into fragments. It came out of medicine long before it reached skincare. Here is what it does, and why the format matters as much as the ingredient.
Collagen PDRN Salmon DNA

Glass-Skin Effect
PDRN and collagen leave skin plump, smooth and luminous in 30 minutes.
-
Hydrates
Low molecular collagen and hyaluronic acid for deep hydration and bounce.

PDRN from salmon DNA
PDRN is the main active in this mask. Here is what it is, what it does for your skin, and what works alongside it.
What is PDRN?
A skincare active made from purified salmon DNA.
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. It is made up of small fragments of DNA, which are purified before they are used in skincare. The most common source is salmon, which is why PDRN is so often simply called salmon DNA.
What sets PDRN apart is its focus. Some actives are chosen for one specific job, such as hydration or exfoliation. PDRN is valued for the overall look of the skin: how firm and elastic it appears, and how refreshed and revitalised it looks. That broader role is a big part of why it has become such a well known ingredient in Korean skincare.
On an ingredient list, PDRN from salmon may appear as sodium DNA.
What does PDRN do for the skin?
It helps skin look firmer, more elastic and revitalised.
PDRN works on three qualities you can see and feel. The first is elasticity: how easily skin bounces back after a gentle press, a smile or a pillow crease. The second is firmness: how taut and smooth skin feels to the touch. The third is how rested skin looks, as PDRN helps bring back a revitalised look to skin that appears tired or dull.
As skin looks firmer and more elastic, its surface also looks smoother and more refined. A smoother surface reflects light more evenly, and that even reflection is what gives skin a fresh glass skin glow. After one 30 minute mask, skin feels firmer to the touch and looks plump and luminous.
The results are visible after a single mask.
PDRN does not work alone
Collagen and hyaluronic acid each look after a different part of the result.
In this mask, PDRN is paired with low molecular collagen and low molecular hyaluronic acid. Low molecular means both are used in a smaller molecular form, rather than as the larger molecules they naturally come in.
Each one takes on a different quality. PDRN focuses on elasticity and a revitalised look. Collagen works on the surface, helping skin look smoother and more supple. Hyaluronic acid takes care of hydration, keeping skin moisturised so it looks plump and dewy rather than dry. Together, they cover the three sides of the finish: bounce, smoothness and moisture.
Three actives, three roles, one finish.

A serum that becomes the mask
With most masks, the serum and the mask are two separate things: a liquid formula and something to hold it against your skin. DeepMelt brings the two together. The serum is set into a solid hydrogel, so the mask you place on your face is the formula itself. It holds its shape in the sachet and sits on your skin as one smooth, continuous layer.
Inside that hydrogel are PDRN (Salmon DNA), low molecular collagen and low molecular hyaluronic acid. They stay locked in the solid serum until the mask meets your skin, and that is when the melt begins.
- Solid serum the formula is set as a hydrogel
- Melts on contact actives are released as it softens
- 30 minutes no overnight wear needed
How the melt works
As soon as the mask touches your skin, the solid serum starts to melt and release its actives. The process continues throughout wear, which is why it helps to smooth the mask carefully over your face and press out any creases or air pockets when you apply it.
Why it turns transparent
As the serum melts, the mask gradually becomes more transparent, a visible sign that the treatment is working. How clear it becomes, and how quickly, depends on your skin condition, the humidity and the temperature. If it is not completely transparent after 30 minutes, it has still delivered its serum and skin conditioning ingredients.
Why 30 minutes
DeepMelt is designed to do its work in about 30 minutes, enough time for the serum to melt and release its actives without the need for overnight wear. If the mask still feels active at that point you can leave it on a little longer, but extended wear is not needed for the result.
After the melt
When you remove the mask, gently pat any remaining serum into your skin. There is no need to rinse. Your skin is left looking smooth, hydrated and plumped, with a fresh glass skin glow that sits well under makeup.
Tip: for a cooling, energising feel, chill the unopened sachet in the fridge before use.
When the serum is the mask, the whole formula is there for your skin.

Leave on for 30 minutes as it turns clear. Remove and pat in the remaining serum. No rinsing.
Use 1 to 2 times a week.
Before you add to bag
We recommend using DeepMelt PDRN one to two times a week. Between uses, store your masks in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and use each one right after opening the sachet.
DeepMelt PDRN is suitable for all skin types. If your skin is very sensitive or allergy prone, we recommend a patch test before your first full use. Please do not apply the mask to damaged skin, and avoid contact with the eyes. If contact does happen, rinse with water right away.
A mild redness can occur because of the active ingredients in the formula. If you notice signs of irritation, remove the mask and stop using it.
Yes. Once you've removed the mask, pat the remaining serum into your skin and let it settle, then apply your makeup as usual.
Many people use DeepMelt before an event or an evening out, because it leaves skin looking smooth and hydrated with a fresh glow that sits well under makeup.
No. Each sachet holds one two piece mask for a single treatment. As the serum melts, it releases its actives into your skin, so the mask is designed to be used once and then discarded.
